Registration is required for all programs. To schedule your visit, please contact the Education Department at (402) 444-5027 or email email@example.com.
Please make your reservations at least two weeks in advance. The earlier you reserve your field trip spot, the more likely we will be able to accommodate you.
Please plan ahead during busy times of the school year and have several possible dates in mind when scheduling your visit.
Groups of 25 or fewer will be kept as one group. Larger groups will be asked to divide and rotate among programs.
When making your reservation, please let us know of any special needs in your group to allow us to best accommodate you and your students.
Fees for educational programs are $5 per student or $4 per student if your school district participates in The Durham Education Association program. One teacher per group of 20 is free. Coming to the Museum
Please plan on arriving 10 to 15 minutes before your program is scheduled to begin. This will allow us to complete your group check-in without cutting into your program time.
We ask that all buses park to the South of the flagpoles along the 10th Street bridge. Parking is also available on the lower level of the parking deck. However, staff and students have to enter through the main doors on the 10th Street Level.
If you need to cancel your program or tour for any reason, please contact the Education Department as soon as possible at (402) 444-5027.
Our preferred ratio is 1:10 (adults to children), but consider more adults for younger groups.
Students may visit the Museum Shop, Soda Fountain, or Candy Counter with your permission and with adult supervision after the field trip has ended. If you wish to allow students to buy lunch from the Soda Fountain, please give advance notice upon registering for your visit.
Students and teachers are welcome to bring cameras to document their visit. We ask that you do not use a flash, and that no pictures are taken in Velde Hall (the temporary exhibits). Afterward, please share your photos with us! Send them to email@example.com.
Lunch space is available, but limited. If you wish to eat lunch in the Suzanne and Walter Scott Great Hall please let us know upon reservation. Teachers and adult chaperones are responsible for supervision.
Coats, lunches, and backpacks may be left on the benches in the Suzanne and Walter Scott Great Hall. However, the museum is not responsible for items left unattended.
Students who are members of The Durham Museum must pay for any scheduled program because special staff and supplies are required. Chaperones may use their membership card to gain admittance at no charge.
