Girl Scout Programming 2012-2013
Earn a badge in one workshop! The Durham Museum is proud to offer a variety of fun, educational opportunities for both Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts that utilize the new skill sets. Girl Scout workshops are available with advance registration for Troops of 10 or more.
BROWNIES
Making Games
Earn some big points with your Troop with this action-packed class. Join museum staff on a scavenger hunt through the permanent galleries. Troops will also play a few old games and learn a couple new games.
Senses
Your five senses are completely independent of each other; yet they all work together to help you experience the world around you. In this class Troops will explore their sense of sight, touch, taste, smell and hearing through several engaging activities.
My Family Story
Just like every snowflake is different, no two families are alike. In this class we’ll learn about the things that make your family true originals. Brownies will design a family crest and make a unique family tree.
JUNIORS
Musician
This program is sure to have your Troop singing your praises as they learn about the world of music. Scouts will make a simple instrument, explore differ

ent types of music, such as Jazz, Pop and Folk, and learn about the different rhythms of those styles. Don’t forget to visit our up coming exhibit, Women Who Rock, February 8-May 5, 2013.
Product Designer
Did you know that the televisions, trampolines, ear muffs and popsicles were all invented by children? Every great idea had to come from someone, no matter their age, so step into The Durham’s Research Lab as we work on the next big thing.
Detective
So are you a whorl, loop or arch? All three of these are types of finger prints, and learning how to read them is one of the many skills a detective must have. In this class, Juniors will learn a few tricks of the trade that the pros use to solve some of today’s toughest cases.
