On March 12, 2012, Girl Scouts of the USA celebrated its centennial anniversary. Since Juliette Gordon Low formed the first troop of 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia, the organization has grown to include 3.2 million girl and adult members, and 59 million American women can call themselves Girl Scout alumnae. This exhibit honors the accomplishments of the national Girl Scouts organization and will feature artifacts culled from the collection of the Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska council. The exhibition will showcase uniforms, merit badges and awards, handbooks and additional artifacts from the earliest years of Girl Scouting to the present day. A retrospective video will also be featured; telling the complete story of Girl Scout leadership and building girls of courage, confidence and character since 1912.
